Our annual parish retreat at Shrine Mont is a time of fun and fellowship for parishioners of all ages. Shrine Mont retreat center, nestled in Orkney Springs, Virginia, provides a rustic setting for a weekend away, about two hours from Alexandria. The first weekend in August each year, we gather for a weekend of activities including a children’s program, spiritual group discussion, worship and fellowship. The evenings find our group gathered for conversation, music, and play. Saturday morning features a children’s program and spiritual group discussion for the adults. In the afternoon, all are free to choose from activities including hiking, swimming, walking the labyrinth, or relaxing on one of Shrine Mont’s many porches. On Saturday evening, we gather for a sunset candlelight prayer service and the weekend concludes with a Sunday morning church service in the open-air stone cathedral.
